Ons boegbeeld, onze warme en wijze bestuursvoorzitter Trevor James is zaterdag 29 april tijdens zijn voetreis door Wales overleden. Zijn reisverslag eindigt vrijdagavond met een foto en de woorden ‘With views of tomorrow’s challenge‘. We zijn er stuk van.
Bevlogen leider
Sinds de oprichting van Cooplink in 2020 is Trevor de voorzitter van ons bestuur. Trevor was een zeer betrokken, hands-on leider. Hij leidde de stuurgroep en vele werkgroepen met oog voor iedereen. Hij stond steevast klaar met wijze raad, was een veelgevraagd spreker op tal van bijeenkomsten en draaide met plezier maatwerksessies voor groepen die gezamenlijk hun woondroom willen realiseren. Onvermoeibaar leek hij, Trevor zette zich met hart en ziel in voor betere kansen voor wooncoöperaties. Zijn bevlogenheid spreekt ook uit een van zijn laatste interviews, dat op 18 april door Aedes werd gepubliceerd.
Uitzonderlijk mens
Een jaar geleden werd Trevor koninklijk onderscheiden. “Hij introduceerde de right to manage in de Nederlandse woningmarkt en stimuleerde zo bewoners om zelf het beheer van hun wooncomplex te voeren,” zei de burgemeester van Utrecht toen. “De manier waarop hij gedurende zijn leven invloed uitoefende op de emancipatie van bewoners is uniek. Hij maakte indruk met zijn vasthoudende manier van werken en bleef vasthouden waar anderen loslieten.” Het is allemaal waar: Trevor James was een uitzonderlijk mens. Wij zullen zijn lijn voortzetten, zijn passie laten voortleven en zijn droom realiseren.

In memoriam Trevor James
Our figurehead, our kind and wise chairman of the board passed away on Saturday 29 April while hiking through Wales. His travelogue ends Friday evening with the words ‘With views of tomorrow’s challenge’ (photo). We are heartbroken.
Passionate leader
Trevor has been the chairman of our board since Cooplink was founded in 2020. Trevor was a truly engaged, hands-on leader. He led the steering committee and many working groups with an eye for everyone’s interests. Always willing to share his knowledge and advice, he was a much sought-after speaker at numerous meetings and happy to run tailor-made sessions for groups who want to realize their cooperative dreams. Trevor put his heart and soul into creating better opportunities for housing cooperatives. His enthusiasm is also evident in one of his latest interviews, which was published by Aedes on April 18th.
Exceptional person
One year ago Trevor received a royal decoration. “He introduced the ‘right to manage’ in the Dutch housing market and thus encouraged residents to manage their housing complex themselves,” as quoted by the mayor of Utrecht at the time. “The way in which he influenced the emancipation of residents throughout his life is unique. He impressed with his tenacity and held on where others let go.” It’s all true: Trevor James was an exceptional human being. We will continue his work, live his passion and realize his dream.

On April 27, 2022, Trevor received the Order of Orange-Nassau, which is conferred on people who have made a contribution of outstanding value to the community.
